The fee for the NYU summer program is varies each year please see the Summer Guitar Information Page at NYU for the lastest figures. This includes all two hour classes, one ensemble and all masterclasses and NYU performances. Private lessons are available from our list of teachers. These private lesson fees vary from 55.00 USD to 120.00 USD per hour and is set by the private instructor. You can work out the number of lessons with the instructor. You will pay for lessons by giving the money directly to the instructor not NYU. If you would like college credit for these courses or lessons then there is a completely different fee structure. Please contact Summer Guitar Intensive Staff for the lastest figures. You are charged by the number of credits for each course. The Class instruction courses are 3 credits, the ensemble is one credit and lessons can be 2 credits (1/2 hour lesson) or 3 credits (1 hour lesson) You will need to take 14 lessons within the 3 weeks to complete the NYU requirements for lessons. All lessons for credit are not based on an instructors private lesson rate but are based on the credit amount you wish to receive. The typical age of students is 17 and up with most students in the 18 to 45 year range. You must be 18 years old to stay in the dorm by NY State Law. 17 year old students must gain permission to stay in dorm and a dorm monitor employed. If you have other living arrangements in NYC then you can attend the Intensive. Any age can attend but you do have to have a certain skill level in order to attend. If you are younger or need more remedial work there are a list of books that will help you prepare. You will find one of these books at: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1594899134/museeekpublishin/104-6088592-6729504 or on the muse-eek.com website at: http://www.muse-eek.com/books/nygmPR_ens_2/lower.html NYU has reserved rooms for the Summer NYU Guitar program. These rooms will house 2 students per room. These rooms are available on a first come first serve basis. It is possible that NYU Housing will be able to find housing for more that 20 students but this is not guaranteed. You must be at least 17 years old to stay in the NYU Dorm. There are no age restrictions as far as attending the program. If you are underaged and wish to stay in the dorm then submit an application. If we have more than 5 underaged applicants NYU will higher a person to live in the dorms and escort underaged students to various activities. This is a New York State Law and it doesn't matter if we have parental approval for an unsupervised stay in the NYU Dorms. So far we have always had enough underaged students to allow underaged students to attend. If you are underaged you should explain in your application or with an additional letter that you understand that your application will only be approved once there are enough underaged applicants. |
