Many people are surprised to hear that perfect pitch is
learnable, but it is. By definition, perfect pitch is the
ability to recognize the sound and identity of a note by itself,
without using another pitch or key center as a reference.
Using this book and the accompanying MP3s will get you
there. Each instrument in the Perfect Pitch Series has varying
numbers of MP3 files depending on the instrument's range.
The acoustic piano has 4 different lengths of 12, 6, 4, and 1
seconds, while the other instruments have 8, 5, 3, and 1 second
files. The differing time lengths allow you to
tailor your practice to your own daily schedule, and to create
your own exercise regimen. Explanations guide you into a
productive work method, one that has been successfully used by
the author in his 30 year career as a music instructor. Perfect
Pitch ear training can be used by students with little or no
prior musical training. Since the audio files are MP3s you
will need an MP3 player, preferably a portable one, to get the
most out of the course. With discipline, motivation and
patience, you can have perfect pitch.
Another use for these perfect pitch MP3s is to create Direct
Application Contextual Ear Training exercises. Since
each MP3 file in the Perfect Pitch Books plays a note and then
says the note name, you could use these files in a few different
situations:
1. Play a chord progression that has a strong key center while
the MP3s are playing and guess the note's name within the key
center.
2. Play a melody that has a strong key center while the MP3s are
playing and guess the note's name within the key center.
3. Play any music MP3 where you know what the key center
is and guess the note's name within the key center.
Since the MP3s included in the Perfect Pitch downloads are at 4
different speeds you can control the amount of time between
hearing the note and hearing the answer. Working with this

Pitch Bundle will also further your ability to recognize
different instruments in a Contextual Ear Training environment
much like the exercises found in the Instrumental
Color Series. but in this case there
is no cadence at the beginning of each file.
