BACK COVER
"The New York Guitar Method" is a series of books for any guitar student seeking to become a professional musician. Each level in the series is composed of a theory and an ensemble book.
"The New York Guitar Method" is used at New York University and is a required text at both NYU's Undergraduate Music Program and NYU's Summer Guitar Intensive Program.
"The New York Guitar Ensemble Book Two" concentrates on jazz melodies and chords. The application of approach note theory is explored through various exercises to ingrain the many possibilities of this melodic concept. Four note chord voicings for the upper four strings of the guitar are thoroughly investigated through various comping styles. Other exercises include reading on one string to develop fretboard knowledge and recognition of notes on a staff. Arrangements for four guitars using the jazz standard "Rhythm Changes" are provided for ensemble practice as well as written solos and Bebop duets. Many of these exercises allow students to play and accompany each other in an ensemble situation.
The Muse-Eek Publishing Company believes the education of a student shouldn't stop with the purchase of a book, therefore our website, www.muse-eek.com offers a free "member's area" where students can download files specific to this book and many other files on a wide range of musical subjects.
