BACK COVER
This book is a high potency method for any bass guitarist who is seeking to become a professional musician and who wishes to practice the techniques used by world class players.
There are many possible ways to construct jazz bass lines. This book explores one of those possible ways in depth. The method is built upon the use of chord tones, approach notes and basic reharmonization techniques.
Three forms common to the jazz idiom are used to explore this method; the Blues, Minor Blues and Rhythm Changes. A detailed explanation of the components of building a bass line note by note is included as well as an explanation of the theory behind basic reharmonization. This book also contains a section on the proper scale to use for each chord, with all chord types including available tensions and avoid notes.
Muse Eek Publishing Company also hosts two on-line resources in conjunction with this book. A “Frequently Asked Questions” page (FAQ) is available where students can ask the author questions that may arise as they work. There is also a free “member’s section” where book owners can download other files specific to this book and many other help files to further their music education.
Unlike traditional situations where the reader is left on their own after purchase of a text, Muse-Eek Publishing seeks to keep the reader/student engaged and interactive with the author. With each book you are beginning a relationship in which help and direction are always available to make sure you are learning correctly.
This book is a required text for beginning bass guitarists at New York University and Princeton University and is recommended for beginning to intermediate bass guitar students ages 13 and up.
