This book has been created for the beginning guitarist who wants to start out with the proper playing technique. The importance of learning the right physical and mental approaches to music and how they relate to the guitar from the beginning of study cannot be overly stressed. If you start with the right information you will see steady, unhampered improvement. Almost all the physical problems I see in guitarists (including myself) have come from basic misconceptions and misguided suggestions from previous teachers or books. It's not enough for a book or teacher to say "use the pick to strike the strings." You need to show the student exactly how the pick should be held, and how the muscles of the hand are involved, to lay the foundations of proper technique. This e-book gets into these specifics; master them and you will surely reach a high level of proficiency. In some cases you might need to spend a little more time getting a particular technique down before proceeding, but this will pay off and make all the difference. Haste makes waste, and the line of guitarists wondering why they can't play well or why they can't play fast, why they haven't improved in years, or why they have pain when they play, is long. It is also recommended that you read the "Further "Thoughts on Practicing and Playing Music" on page 6 to give you some guiding information about the musical process of which technique is only one part . Although this book is an excerpt from "1st Steps for a Beginning Guitarist" ISBN 1890944904 it has been enhanced so more advanced guitarists wishing to change their technique can take advantage of the information presented.
